My Profile
Janette Fischer graduated from Brigham Young University with a degree in
Early Childhood Education. She went on to teach Kindergarten for 5 years
in the Provo School District. She also was a Head Teacher at the BYU Preschool for one summer.
During her time in Provo School District, Janette was nominated to be the
Golden Apple Award winner for her school. Two years later, she was nominated
on the District level, Region level and eventually won the Golden Apple Award
for the State of Utah. Janette was featured with other educators on a special
evening with Governor Leavitt that was broadcast on KBYU television.
In 2002 Janette was instrumental in developing the Kindergarten Core Writing Assessment
for the State of Utah. She also sat on various committees that helped
refine the total Kindergarten Core. During her years of teaching Kindergarten,
Janette also taught a Parent Connection Class called "Hand-to-Hand" where
she educated parents on how to teach their children at home. She is not
only a devoted teacher of children, but feels strongly that parents should
be educated alongside their children.
Currently Janette is the mother of two children. Little Fish PreSchool is the
product of her desire to teach her own children at home preparatory for Kindergarten.
